Well fellow lovers of caterpillars and butterflies, my monarchs have flown the coop. As I suspected in my last update, the chrysalis hatched that Sunday morning, but no one was watching!
A shame, but these are pictures of the new hatchling once I returned from breakfast.
Subsequent collected caterpillars foiled my efforts to keep them contained in my planter and all 3 chose a more modest and hidden place to do their transforming. After, of course, they obliterated the milkweed plants.
Alas, no classroom examples to be had!

This is what we missed by going to the Mudhouse?!
Nope, the Sunday previous (I am a tardy blogger) But Mudhouse would've won over in any case. . .
